CIGRE Ireland in conjunction with ESB, proudly hosted our inaugural poster competition for young professionals on Wednesday the 16th of October in ESB Head Office – Fitzwilliam 27.
This landmark event was a resounding success, showcasing the exceptional talent and innovative spirit of our young professionals in industry.
The purpose of this session was to provide a platform for ESB young professionals to present on a study or project they’ve been directly involved with in ESB to an audience of their peers. This opportunity not only highlighted their hard work and dedication but also celebrated their achievements and contributions to the field.
We had 8 excellent presenters on the day, each demonstrating remarkable expertise and passion in their respective projects:

All the presenters had the opportunity to talk to a diverse audience, receive feedback from industry experts and enhance or establish new skill sets in the form of presenting and engaging with an audience in an interactive setting.
The event was well attended in the event space of ESB’s F27 Head Office in Dublin with introductory speeches from Ken Atkinson (Secretary of the CIGRE Ireland National Committee), Keith Keady (Chairperson of CIGRE Ireland Next Generation Network) and a guest appearance from ESB’s Capability Manager, Majella Henchion. Their words of encouragement and support set a positive tone for the day. The competition was judged by Ken Atkinson and Ciaran Geaney, Innovation Manager for ESB Networks.
Many thanks to all who attended the poster session, the presenters for their time in participating and to ESB for being a key driver in supporting this event for their young professionals. This event marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and professional growth within our community.
