We would like to invite you all to the kick-off event for the CIGRE Irish National Committee Next Generation Network (INGN). The INGN has been launched with the aim to increase participation within CIGRE among the next generation of professional engineers. We hope to provide a forum for engineers in the early stages of their careers to learn more about the industry and increase exposure to CIGRE and the power industry. Throughout the year we are planning to organise workshop/events on different topics of interest to young CIGRE members. To formally launch the committee, a kick-off event has been scheduled for the 22nd of October, starting at 15:00 in the EirGrid offices in Ballsbridge.
The topic will be the challenges of renewable integration in Ireland and Japan. We will have presentations from a Japanese delegation (including NEDO, Tokyo University, Utilities and wind forecasters), Hassan Qazi from EirGrid (presenting on EirGrid’s challenges beyond 2020 as Transmission system operators) and members of the NGN. We will also be having a networking session in Ballsbridge following the event to give members an opportunity to meet the NGN committee and engage with other young CIGRE members.
