2017 – A big year for CIGRE Ireland <- Back

January 8, 2017

The CIGRE Irish National Committee is hosting the only CIGRE Symposium to be held anywhere in the world in 2017.   We are also hosting the President of CIGRE and the CIGRE Steering Committee who will hold their meeting in Dublin in conjunction with the Symposium.  These two occasions represent “firsts” for the Irish branch of CIGRE in its 60+ year history and we are delighted and very honoured to be entrusted by CIGRE to host them both.

The 2-day symposium, titled “Experiencing the Future Power System …Today” will be held on the 31st May and 1st of June in Trinity College Dublin.  The call for papers closed in September 2016 and was substantially oversubscribed. The Technical Committee selected 100 high quality papers from 26 countries on a range of interesting topics.  A full program of papers will be developed in the course of the next two months.  The Technical Committee have also finalised the details of 6 tutorials and the technical visit.  In conjunction with the Symposium the INC is hosting 6 Study Committee meetings and over 50 working group meetings.

On the social side, the Gala Dinner has been booked to  take place in the wonderful surroundings of the Round Room of the Mansion House on Wednesday 31st May.  A welcome drinks reception in Trinity on the 30th May and a full partners programme have also been arranged.  More information is available on our website
